Player Code of Conduct

Nantucket Youth Hockey (NYH) is committed to providing a safe, positive, respectful, and competitive environment for all participants. Players, parents, coaches, and volunteers are expected to represent NYH and our community appropriately at all times.

• Treat players, teammates, coaches, officials, opponents, parents, volunteers, and rink staff with respect.
• Demonstrate good sportsmanship and remember that youth hockey should be competitive, positive, and fun.
• Refrain from bullying, hazing, harassment, threats, fighting, discriminatory language, abusive behavior, or intentionally harmful conduct.
• Respect coaches and officials and refrain from abusive, threatening, or inappropriate arguments or confrontations.
• Maintain appropriate behavior in locker rooms, on benches, during team travel, at hotels, and at all NYH activities.
• Never photograph, record, or distribute images or video from a locker room or other private team setting.
• Use social media, texting, and team communications responsibly and never use them to bully, embarrass, threaten, or target another person.
• Respect the property, equipment, privacy, and personal space of others. • Raise concerns through the appropriate coach, team manager, Hockey Director, or NYH Board member rather than confronting another player or family.
• Follow all NYH, USA Hockey, and applicable SafeSport rules and policies.
• Report serious safety concerns, bullying, harassment, or other inappropriate conduct to an NYH coach or official.
• Understand that participation in Nantucket Youth Hockey is a privilege and that violations may result in disciplinary action. Accountability Violations of this Code of Conduct will be handled in accordance with the Nantucket Youth Hockey Discipline Policy. Depending on the circumstances and severity of the conduct, consequences may include warnings, parent involvement, probation, loss of privileges, suspension, or removal from NYH activities. Serious misconduct may result in immediate suspension or other action without first progressing through lesser disciplinary steps.
