Visiting Nantucket: Team & Family Travel Information
Welcome to Nantucket! Because traveling to the island requires ferry transportation, Nantucket Youth Hockey coordinates visiting-team travel to make the process as easy as possible.
All visiting teams must contact Nantucket Youth Hockey Travel Coordinator Katie Manchester at acktravelhockey@gmail.com at least ONE WEEK prior to their scheduled game.
Please provide:
- Team name, including age/year and division (example: Nantucket Bantam B)
- Number of players traveling
- Number of coaches traveling (maximum of 4)
- Approximate number of spectators traveling
- This helps us arrange appropriate transportation between the ferry terminal and Nantucket Ice.
Traveling to Nantucket
Travel to Nantucket requires a fast ferry ride from Hyannis. Games on Nantucket are scheduled around ferry schedules, and the fast ferry trip is approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes.
Reservations may be made on either Hy-Line Cruises or the Steamship Authority.
Nantucket Youth Hockey will arrange and pay for ferry reservations for traveling players and coaches only. Visiting teams must provide their final player and coach counts to Katie Manchester at acktravelhockey@gmail.com at least one week before the game.
Players and coaches must travel to and from Nantucket on the SAME ferry as their team for the discounted team rate to apply.
Please note: The Steamship Authority fast ferry operates seasonally and typically only runs through the end of December.
After Your Team Reservation Is Confirmed
Nantucket Youth Hockey will share the team's ferry booking confirmation with the visiting team.
Once you receive your confirmed ferry company and travel times, please share the information with your families so they can make their reservations on the same ferry and receive any applicable discounted rate.
Please remind families not to book until the team's reservation has been confirmed.
Important Information for Parents & Families
Parents and siblings are responsible for making and paying for their own ferry reservations.
Please DO NOT make family reservations until your team's reservation has been completed and your coach has confirmed the ferry company and departure/return times.
Once the team reservation has been made, families can book travel on the same ferry as the team and may qualify for a reduced group rate.

Transportation on Nantucket
Nantucket Youth Hockey will provide transportation between the ferry terminal and Nantucket Ice for visiting players, coaches, and fans.
This is why we ask teams to provide their best estimate of the number of spectators traveling at least one week before the game. An approximate number is fine—we simply need enough information to arrange appropriate transportation.
Nantucket's regional transit authority also provides free year-round bus service around the island.
